Alert questions
How fast do alerts arrive?
Status is checked every 60 seconds against public Google Cloud health data. Alerts are dispatched as soon as an incident is confirmed, typically within a minute or two of Google acknowledging it, often before it reaches your on-call chat.
What does an alert contain?
The affected products, the affected regions, the current status, and a link to the live incident timeline. Enough to decide whether to fail over without leaving your inbox.
How many emails will I get?
Only incident notifications. No newsletters, no digests, no marketing. During a quiet month that can mean zero emails.
Is it free?
Yes. Alerts are free. The service is supported by Next Signal, the monitoring platform that powers our status checks.
Where does the data come from?
The official Google Cloud Service Health dashboard and Google Cloud incident reports, cross-checked against our own continuous probes. We never invent incidents, and every alert links back to a verifiable source.
Can I get alerts for only the products I use?
Yes. When you subscribe you can scope alerts to specific products (for example Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Storage, or BigQuery). Leave it unscoped to be notified about every monitored product.
Can I filter alerts by region?
You can. Most teams only care about the regions they deploy to, such as us-central1 or europe-west1. Region filtering keeps an asia-east1 incident from paging a US-only team.
Will I get an alert when the incident is resolved?
Yes. You get the opening notification and a single resolved notification with the total duration, so you know when it is safe to stand your team down.
Can I set a severity threshold?
Yes. You can choose to hear about everything, or only major and critical incidents. Teams on call typically want everything; execs usually want critical-only.
How do I unsubscribe?
Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link, and it takes effect immediately. No login, no confirmation loop, no retention email.
Do you sell or share my email address?
No. Your address is used only to send the alerts you asked for. We do not sell, rent, or share subscriber lists, ever.
How is this different from the Google Cloud Service Health dashboard?
The Service Health dashboard is pull-based: you have to go look. We are push-based and independent. We watch the public signal for you, group the noise into one event, and email you the moment something that matters changes.
